New Possibilities:
When Cooper graduated from a renowned music academy he felt like the world was his oyster.  A dream of major music contracts, concerts and tours swirled through his mind as he entered back into the ‘real world’ with is music degree.  Playing music had always been at the center of his life and no other occupation seemed even remotely interesting.  He admitted to looking down on musicians who took other jobs as being ‘sell-outs’ for not staying true to their dream.

It was no surprise for him that the Musician archetype occupied the first section of his archetypal map, which covers Ego and Personality.  It’s how he had defined himself for as long as he could remember.  He also saw how this one archetype had taken over his life and how it had caused a lot of suffering to believe he was meant for only one purpose.  After some time spent contemplating the rest of his map he emailed me ecstatic about a whole slew of new plans based on archetypal perspectives.

“I’ve always mentored younger musicians and shown them the ropes based on my experiences – I even discouraged a few based on my own so-called failures.  I was looking at how the Mentor archetype is placed in the 6th section of Occupation and Health and wondering what I could do with that when it hit me – my buddy is running a non-profit helping at risk youth.  I called him up and we are now talking about starting a music-mentoring program in my hometown.   This really feels like the right thing to be doing right now and there is even talk of doing recordings to help raise funds for the program.  I feel so much more at ease and excited by the new possibilities in my life – I’m even writing a song about it.”
