JG Interview

Q:Why do you do what you do?

A: I LOVE what I do.  If I won the lottery – I’d still be doing this work.

I am inspired by the simple wisdom that we all have a purpose in life and that it’s a matter of realizing it and making choices to actively live that purpose (or rather purposes).

Without purpose or meaning we can easily become listless and not fully engaged with life.  Worse still, we become somewhat engaged with our lives and continue on with a nagging sense that we could do and be more than we are.  In that sort of state, the term ‘highest potential’ doesn’t mean much to us and therefore becomes this amorphous ‘thing’ that feels impossible and out of reach.  My passion and dedication is to assist those willing to look at their life symbolically to find the gems awaiting them and help guide them to their highest expression.

Q: Why did you choose to become an Archetypal Consultant?

A: As an Artist, seeing symbolically has come naturally to me and as a Business Manager and Consultant, I was looking for an effective method to support teams and businesses to make empowered choices.

The study of Archetypes as symbols of deep meaning has provided a real framework for making those empowered choices.  It has also spurred further study into how we can positively empower our lives and be of more meaningful service to the world around us.  Archetypes are ubiquitous and have a breadth and depth that create a rich and ever expanding way of experiencing life.  Realizing my own archetypal compass has been a fun and profound experience and it is deeply satisfying to be able to share the process with others.

Q: Where did you get your certification?

A: I attended the CMED Institute in Chicago.  Archetypal certification required in-person study in Chicago along with group and independent study online.  Certification typically requires two years of study but I opted for the one year intensive course in 2009 along with a one year apprenticeship with a Master Consultant.

Q: Anything else you want to share about yourself?

A: Things you might (or might not) want to know about me:

  • I am a unique snowflake – just like everyone else.
  • Some of my favorite movies are Auntie Mame, The Big Lebowski, The Fifth Element and Amelie
  • I’ve eaten pizza in Holland, India, Africa, Canada, England, Mexico, Thailand, Hong Kong and of course in the US.
  • I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane at 15,000 feet – for fun.
